Wear protection for extreme conditions

Epoxy resin system Weicon Ceramic HC 220

For surfaces in industrial applications, which are permanently exposed to extreme conditions, Weicon has developed a wear protection – the epoxy resin system Weicon Ceramic HC 220.

Weicon Ceramic HC 220
Ceramic HC 220 has a high abrasion resistance. It protects surfaces in industrial areas, where extreme conditions, such as high temperatures, moisture, cavitation and abrasion are part of daily work. The system is temperature-resistant up to +220 °C, flowable, ceramic-filled, resistant to chemicals and has a high adhesive strength. Ceramic HC 220 can be easily processed with a paint brush and applied to large surfaces. The epoxy resin system is non-corrosive, anti-magnetic and cures practically without shrinkage. The surface protection is particularly suitable for lining heavily stressed components, such as pumps, pipes or plate coolers.
The epoxy resin system can be used wherever chemicals or other aggressive substances are carried through pipes. It is suitable for applications in the chemical industry, in refineries, in sewage treatment plants, and in many other areas.

Plastic Metal
The term plastic metal describes epoxy resin systems, which consist of two components, one resin and one hardener. Depending on the type, the resin component is mixed with steel, aluminium powder or mineral fillers, all of which improve the technical characteristics, such as the compressive strength and thermal conductivity.

The epoxy resin system is suitable for a broad range of applications in different industrial areas. Plastic metal can be used, for example, in industrial series production for adhesive bonding, coatings and durable repairs on different materials.

After mixing the two components, the plastic metal cures at room temperature to a solid, metal-like material, which can then be machined. It can be drilled, milled, sanded or filed, if required.
